TIC announced an increase in capacity and the provision of backup links between TIC and Iraq’s ITPC.
According to TIC PR: Sohrab Agh Bayat, Member of the Board of Directors of Iran’s Telecommunication Infrastructure Company ensure the continuity of data and roaming services between Iranian and Iraqi operators during the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
Speaking to the TIC Public Relations correspondent, Agh Bayat noted that since 2023, a direct communication link has been established between Iranian and Iraqi operators. He added that, this year, following a joint meeting between Dr. Akbari, Managing Director of TIC, and the Managing Director of ITPC during the Ministry of ICT’s delegation visit to Iraq, agreements were reached to expand capacity and create a backup link. This will enable pilgrims to access high-quality data roaming services at reduced costs and benefit from economical packages offered by operators.
He emphasized that Arbaeen pilgrimage entails inherent responsibilities in the field of telecommunications that fall within the remit of TIC. Thanks to the efforts of the company’s personnel, significant progress has been made toward improving services, and network, power, and facility infrastructure support is being provided to operators more effectively than in previous years.
Agh Bayat further highlighted that during the Arbaeen period, TIC is pursuing two key communication priorities: the first is establishing robust domestic connections up to the border terminals, and the second involves setting up telecommunications infrastructure within Iraq.
He regarded the cooperation with Iraq’s ITPC as crucial to improving services for pilgrims, stating that efforts are underway to expand both the quality and quantity of the infrastructure to ensure more effective service delivery.
