The PR and Int\\'l Affairs news desk reported that the agreement for EPEG was signed today morning on 08.06.2011 by and between TIC, Rostelecom, Omantel and Cable and Wireless Worldwide at Kolah Farangi Cultural Complex.

 TIC would be responsible for transiting telecom traffic from Europe to South by attendance at this communication gateway. The traffic would be handed-over to Omantel on the south and would function as a communicative corridor connecting east to west.

 This giant telecom cable would have some 6,000 km length and would be launched by TIC, Rostelecom, Cable and Wireless Worldwide and Omantel and can turn into a competitor of TATA Communications\\' Asia-Europe Fiber Optic.

 The project will be a significant success in the international era and would give a lead to Iran in its objective to turn into a regional hub.  Iran would have a minimum share of 3 Tbps in transiting west traffic to east and vice versa.

 The ceremony was held at the presence of ICT ministers of Iran and Russia as well as managers from OmanTel and Cable and Wireless Worldwide. And local and international reporters covered the event.

In addition to that the ICT ministers and guest paid a visit to State Switch Control Hall and Fiber Optics Network Management Hall at the premise of  Islamic Revolution Complex.
